I have a passion for education.
Since childhood, I have had a passion for learning. As a very young child, my favorite bedtime story was, “Daddy, tell me how the blood goes.”
In the face of this daunting request he would always oblige with a detailed description of the human circulatory system, complete with medical terminology. I was endlessly curious and never spared my parents and other adults in my life such complicated questions. I recall the pained
look on my father’s face when I came home from grade school one day and asked “Dad, what’s difference between the Republicans and the Democrats?” This love of learning eventually led me to make education my life’s work.
My work as an instructional designer satisfies my desire for continuous learning and encompasses nearly every other academic
discipline. I enjoy meeting with faculty to design courses, which requires me to become somewhat familiar with their curriculum and academic discipline. Technology also changes rapidly and as an instructional designer I enjoy the challenge of keeping up with the latest
innovations so that I can offer guidance and training to the faculty and educational clients I serve. I find the duality of continuous learning while teaching to be personally rewarding.
Most recently, I have completed a PhD in Occupational and Adult Education, and view it as a significant complement to my role as a curriculum and program consultant. My research experience built upon my background in general education and my expertise in instructional systems design.
